Art has always been a large part of Marilyn’s life. Marilyn was raised in a family that appreciated art in all forms, and several family members are artists. Marilyn’s father was British and Marilyn was fortunate enough to be able to live in England for more than 3 years. She developed a deep love for the beauty and softness of the English countryside.
Marilyn’s journey into art began with Calligraphy which become a passion that led her into teaching this art form for 20 years. Several years ago a friend suggested that she try doing watercolors and a new passion was born. The freedom and beauty of watercolor captured Marilyn’s imagination. Thanks to a patient teacher, Norm Rossignol, Marilyn began painting and has not stopped, even to the point of painting in her dreams. Marilyn is inspired by memories of England. Being able to recreate those memories in watercolor is pure joy. Marilyn was recently honored by being juried into the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO) in October 2011.
