Artist Statement
“After painting in a number of mediums over the years, I now work with watercolors and pastels. I am a studio painter but do some plein air work, especially in the summer when I love being outdoors. Painting from life has helped me to really see and I’m able to carry that knowledge to the studio, where I paint using photographs I have taken, small plein air studies, memories of a place and my imagination. Photographs are used only as partial references. I teach watercolor painting, drawing with graphite & charcoal, and pen and ink. Teaching helps me to further develop as a painter.”
I began sketching, drawing and painting in early childhood. Formal art training began in high school and continued at Eastern New Mexico University and Southern Oregon State University.
