- Our HUGE Annual Art Yard Sale!
August at Art du Jour Gallery is a month bursting with exciting things you won’t want to miss! The gallery is honored to present in our Salon during August and September the work of special guest artist Janus Innes. Janus is a well-known local artist whose innovative paintings merge abstract with realism to create unique and exciting images. She achieves her sparkling and sometimes haunting images with crackle paste, an acrylic compound that yields a highly textured surface into which she adds paint and often other materials to lend mystery and special beauty to the ultimate image.
Although she was an art major in college, Janus is largely self-taught. Before moving to the Rogue Valley in 2013, she belonged to several art groups in Texas and Arizona, including the Arizona Artists’ Guild, the oldest art guild in the Phoenix area. She took classes during those years and learned about the use of various texturing methods; then she took it from there on her own, innovating and developing the unique methodology, style and mystery viewers find so appealing in her artwork today. She has shown in Texas, Arizona, Oregon and other states and she won Best In Show in a Texas art show competition.
Art du Jour Gallery invites you to visit the gallery’s Salon and discover the haunting images that will arise from your own memory as you let your imagination wander through Janus’s compelling paintings. Join us on Friday, August 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. to meet the artist as we honor Janus Innes with a special Third Friday evening reception.
Art du Jour’s August featured artist is John Lambie.
John’s wildly colorful abstracts in acrylic bring the sun out on even the rainiest day! His use of color is exciting and delightful, and his work adds a new dimension of excitement and artistic intellect to our gallery’s walls. John is also an accomplished actor and currently has a role in the play Chatting With the Tea Party at the Ashland Community Center through the end of July. He will appear in The Pinewood Lodge at the Oregon Cabaret Theater during November and December.
John’s role in Cabaret at the Oregon Cabaret Theater brought him to the Rogue Valley in 2015, after he spent two years in Los Angeles performing in film and television. John earned his BA degree in his double major of Theater and English at the University of Utah. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education and taught special ed for 38 years in Scotland, Utah and California. Come visit Art du Jour Gallery and be delighted by John’s newest paintings!
